MODERATOR’S NOTE: Martyrdom of Christians is as old as the Church itself. You may be surprised to realize that approximately 165,000 believers annually are martyred for their faith. This most frequently cited figure come from the World Christian Encyclopedia, a massive reference volume edited by David Barrett and Todd Johnson of the World Evangelization Research Center in Richmond, Virginia. By martyr, we mean “believers in Christ who lose their lives prematurely because of their faith, in situations of witness, as a result of human hostility”. Would you join us not only in praying for this young man who was just martyred recently in India, but at the same time, remember he is one of a multitude who are witnessing to the Truth by laying down their lives daily? Prayer points follow…

Dear friends,

Margaret and I were deeply moved and saddened to hear of the death of the son of the cousin of Rod Gilbert, our host at the Delhi summit last year. Amit Gilbert was in the course of preaching the Gospel when he was murdered by followers of the monkey god. Of course we have heard of martyrdom in India, but to hear of it happening to a close relation of our dear friend and host brings it so much closer to home. And we do hope by God’s grace our reactions would be as charitable as Rod’s if it were to happen in our family.

Please do read the email from Rod pasted below, and bring the prayer needs to the Lord. Please do consider sending a message of support for the family to Rod. They are greatly encouraged by the assurance that Christians all round the world are supporting them at this difficult time

Blessings and love Robin

Dear praying Saints

My cousin Mr. Sonu Gilberts son Amit Gilbert was ministering in Salaiya near Betul, central India, on April 17th, and was attacked by Bajrang Dal (The group that worships the monkey god). They apparently sized Amit, killed him and threw in a well. Please pray for his mother Mrs. Rani and father Mr. Sonu Gilbert.

Please pray for the following:

o The Holy Spirit will bring His comfort to the entire family and relatives

o This family has been walking far away from the Lord but pray that this seed of martyrdom will result in the salvation of the entire extended family, and many more.

o That those persecuted Amit, will come to the repentance and find their salvation in Jesus

o This story of Martyrdom will not be used by Satan to bring fear and discouragement in the body, rather will raise the level of faith, commitment, shrewdness, and vision of those laboring in the Northern India

o The enemy will be defeated and the Lord be glorified in great measure by a great Kingdom movement

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne; they cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before thou wilt judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell upon the earth? (Rev 6:9, 10)

I also request you to forward this mail to all that can help in prayer mobilization.
